Matthew Drumm
is a long term fan of rock/metal music, and is a keen fan of the likes of Metallica, Slayer, Stratovarius and Iron Maiden,
and along the way being influenced by the likes of Cliff Burton (Metallica) and Tom Araya (Slayer).
Matt is the
master of pounding out crushing bass lines as the backbone of Silas guitar based sound, on his 20+ fret bass guitar, which
is a beast of an instrument to say the very least.
In terms of
his off the stage personality, he is known to be quiet but very friendly. But at Silas shows, he lets his fingers do all the
talking. A prime example comes from Silas recent gig in early May, as the crowd swayed in unison and harmony to Drumms infectious
middle bass fill for the Orion instrumental, before breaking out into a destructive pool of chaos as Drumm ripped his way
through the outro of the Metallica classic, with his Ride The Lightning T-Shirt electrifying the stage.
He made his
first on-stage performance in December 2003 at Kemnal Technology College with Silas, as he displayed a healthy debut, easing through classics such as Joe Satrianis Surfing
With The Alien, and Led Zeppelins Heartbreaker, in a successful show in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
